What We Advocate
As our name implies, HealthHIV is working to put health first, and engage leaders at all levels of government to:
- Improve health disparities;
- Treat the medically underserved;
- Understand the changing primary care setting;
- Advance chronic disease management;
- Create medical homes in HIV; and
- Redefine how HIV fits into a broader healthcare debate.
HealthHIV brings a re-energized approach to addressing the advocacy agenda.

AIDS in America Letter to President Obama
"As leaders of national organizations that have come together under the "AIDS In America" umbrella, we thank you for your commitment to the development of a National HIV/AIDS Strategy for the United States and for the progress that has been made on its development. We understand that the federal interagency work group is expected soon to make its recommendations on the Strategy to the White House Office of National AIDS Policy (ONAP). As the White House reviews the recommendations of the interagency work group and crafts a National HIV/AIDS Strategy for addressing the domestic HIV/AIDS epidemic, we would like to offer four key elements which we believe must be reflected in a Strategy for it to be successful."
Community Ideas for Improving the Response to the Domestic HIV Epidemic
On Friday April 9th, the White House Office of National AIDS Policy (ONAP) released a report summarizing feedback from 14 community discussions that were held across the country and though an online submission process. The report, Community Ideas for Improving the Response to the Domestic HIV Epidemic, will be used to inform the development of the National HIV/AIDS Strategy (NHAS) that is currently underway. Despite the diversity in settings and respondents, a core set of common themes emerged across all of the recommendations including: improving access to care, reducing stigma surrounding HIV, and coordinating HIV prevention and treatment.
