Goal
To advance effective prevention, care, and support for people living with, or at risk for, viral hepatitis by providing education, technical assistance, and health services research to organizations, communities, and professionals. HealthHIV is committed to fighting viral hepatitis. We are members of the National Viral Hepatitis Roundtable and fully support the National Viral Hepatitis Action Plan. We participate in National Hepatitis Awareness Month (May), National Hepatitis Testing Day (May 19), and World Hepatitis Day (July 28).

January 27, 2012 - In our Second Annual HealthHIV State of HIV Primary Care, the survey asked a number of questions about hepatitis. Those questions included how providers’ confidence in performing the following functions:
- Discussing hepatitis screening
- Interpreting hepatitis test results
- Monitoring patients with chronic hepatitis
- Treating patients with chronic hepatitis B
- Treating patients with chronic hepatitis C
This 2011 survey received 1,806 U.S.-based respondents. Selected findings include:
- 44% of primary care providers report they are not confident treating chronic hepatitis C
- 32% of primary care providers report they not confident treating chronic hepatitis B
Other Findings:
- 47% of primary care providers indicated seeing an increase in the numbers of HCV patients.
- 34% of primary care providers do not provide HCV screening
- 52% of primary care providers do not provide HCV treatment
