The HIV Primary Care Training Platform 

The HIV Primary Care Training Platform offers stage-based, manageable, self-contained learning proficiencies, which correspond to particular clinical topics in HIV prevention, care and treatment. Each proficiency houses didactic and self-study learning resources, including imbedded multimedia presentations and links to supplemental learning resources, to engage and enhance the learner experience. The HIV Primary Care Training Platform was developed by HealthHIV clinical staff and delivers distance-based, learning content to prescribing providers and nursing disciplines (including unlicensed assistive personnel).

 

Foundation Stage: This curriculum provides learning proficiencies centered on building baseline knowledge about HIV-related clinical topics. Topics range from epidemiology to HIV testing and linkage to care.

Provider Stage 1: This curriculum provides prescribing clinicians an introduction to HIV primary care and treatment delivery. Topics range from baseline laboratory interpretation to choosing first-line antiretroviral therapy.

Provider Stage 2: This curriculum provides HIV primary care providers with advanced learning proficiencies centered on caring for complex patients living with HIV. Topics range from managing co-morbid conditions including hepatitis B and cardiovascular disease to counseling around contraceptive options for women living with HIV.

Provider Stage 3: This curriculum provides HIV primary care providers with highly advanced learning proficiencies centered on caring for patients living with HIV and complex co-morbid conditions including Hepatitis C. In addition, curriculum regarding preventing HIV mother to child transmission is available.
