May  19, 2016 – Hepatitis Testing DayHealthHCV recognizes Hepatitis Testing Day by launching an initiative encouraging primary care providers and HIV care providers to increase CDC and USPSTF recommended hepatitis C (HCV) testing by 20% by 2020. HealthHCV’s “20/20: A Clear Vision for Increased HCV Testing” Initiative proposes a clear target outcome to increase testing and diagnosis of HCV in settings serving at risk populations.

March 11, 2016 – Liver Cancer Death Rate Increasing Faster Than All Other Cancers (blog): Annual Report to the Nation on the Status of Cancer was release on March 9th revealing that the rate of new cases of liver cancer is rapidly increasing and the death rate from liver cancer is increasing faster than from all other cancers.

March 11, 2016 – VA Expands Hepatitis C Drug Treatment (blog): Department of Veterans Affairs announced that it is now able to fund care for all veterans with Hepatitis C for Fiscal Year 2016 regardless of the stage of liver disease. 

March 10, 2016 – Comprehensive Addition and Recovery Act (CARA) of 2016 Passes Near-Unanimous (press release): This legislation authorizes funding for evidence-based prevention, treatment and recovery programs to help Americans struggling with addiction to heroin or other opioids. The bill passed the Senate and now moves to the House for consideration.

May is Hepatitis Awareness Month

Hepatitis Testing Day Events Map: May 19th is National Hepatitis Testing Day; the CDC has created a searchable map for users to look up Hepatitis Testing Day events near them.

National Hepatitis Testing Day: May 19th, 2016 is the fifth annual National Hepatitis Testing Day, the CDC takes this opportunity to highlight what populations should be tested for Hepatitis C and what the benefits of getting tested are.


July 28th is World Hepatitis Day

World Hepatitis Day 2016 theme will be ELIMINATION. World Hepatitis Day will mark the global launch of the Global Elimination Movement for Viral Hepatitis movement to achieve the elimination of viral hepatitis by 2030. For more information, or to share your activities, go to:
