SYNC 2017

SYNChronicity (or SYNC 2017) is HealthHIV’s national conference addressing HIV and HCV disease prevention, care and treatment. With the National Coalition for LGBT Health co-hosting SYNC 2017, the agenda is expanded to include LGBT health. The conference is titled SYNChronicity because the approach is to SYNC various audiences with a variety of topics with the intended outcome of advancing HIV, HCV and LGBT health. SYNChronicity educational offerings will be provided following the conference via webinars and an app with available resources—keeping participants synched throughout the year.

SYNChronicity provides a distinct approach to HIV, HCV and LGBT health education and training. With the rapid changes and challenges in the health care sector, the need to come together and SYNC on pressing issues from access to delivery is greater than ever. SYNC 2017 participants will receive training on a variety of HIV, HCV and LGBT health topics and have the unique opportunity to engage with clinicians, service providers, government officials, community based organization leaders, advocates, and others. Together they will SYNC systems, data, programs, models, interventions and policies to generate targeted solutions and approaches within a dynamic health care environment. Continuing education credits will be offered.

SYNC 2017 will feature five (5) PLENARIES and five (5) TRACKS—Preventative Health, MSM of Color Health, HCV Health, LGBT Health, and Systems Health. Each track will feature (3) sessions.

SYNC 2017’s five (5) tracks are as follows:

The Preventative Health track will address the integration of public health and primary care in delivering effective preventative services, and SYNC public health practice with primary care services to advance positive health outcomes.

The MSM of Color Health track will identify strategies to increase the retention and engagement in care of MSM of Color, and examine how cultural competence impacts this population’s access to HIV, HCV and LGBT heath services.

The HCV Health track will SYNC clinicians, allied health providers, and advocates to facilitate implementation of HCV cure therapy, and explore approaches to increasing HCV testing in at-risk communities.

The LGBT Health track will address best practices to SYNCing HIV and STD prevention and treatment within the LGBT community, as well as HIV and HCV co-infection among LGBT individuals.

The Systems Health track will help lead HIV organizations from compliance to sustainability, focusing on complying with federal grants, building revenue streams, and thinking strategically about positioning HIV organizations in a new healthcare landscape.
